An Objective Rant With Respect To Fantasy Sports Leagues

For a few years now I’ve achieved a lot of enjoyment playing my fantasy teams in virtual sports leagues. At the moment I have 3 teams; basketball, football and baseball. There are a lot of other games involving sport that are more basic.

I find this an awful lot of fun and it’s the nearest I’ll ever get to managing a sports team! I love buying and selling players, choosing the teams just pretending to be the manager for a few hours.

This is very rewarding, but rather addictive. As I am in 3 leagues, I seem to spend a helluva lot of time refreshing pages and checking league positions and games stats.

Are the addictive qualities of these games bad for you? Well I personally don’t think s, but then I wouldn’t, would I? It does take up a huge amount of my time and If there are no new stats I find myself watching games I have no interest in, and checking other results to see of my team is affected.

On the positive side, there is the competition and the things that I mentioned earlier. If you are a sports fan you will love a good battle, this keeps things interesting through a long season, no one can argue with that.

A competitive nature is one thing, but there are times that I have bordered on obsessive. I’ve found myself ignoring the actual result of a game as I’ve been very concerned about certain individuals and how they are playing their part in my team.

Like many of us, I have favorite teams in real life that I have been a fan of since childhood. Why now, for the first time ever, is my allegiance being tested by teams that don’t even exist? If fixtures clash I’m in the horrible situation of having to choose between them.

Do I have a problem? Well if I do there are millions of us. This is a topic for hot debate by many sports enthusiasts.

The Most Impressive Fantasy Basketball Breakout Player Of This Year

It happens on an annual basis, without fail. There are always a few NBA players who emerge during the course of the season, hitting the radar screens of every fantasy basketball GM as they break out.

It’s even more frustrating when you’ve been watching them the entire time, only to have missed out on the chance to own them because you were afraid to drop someone else that you dropped a few days later.

During the 08-09 season, players like Tyrus Thomas fit the mold, owned in nearly every league by season’s end. How about this year though? With a few months of basketball behind us, it’s time to reflect by proclaiming some of the next enduring fantasy forces in the league.

Let’s take a look at the player who I believe has had the biggest impact on teams so far this season.

In just his second full season of basketball, it’s clear that Kevin Love will be a force to be reckoned with for quite some time. Few people actually expected him to show the rebounding prowess he has, and no one thought he’d be putting up 15 and 12 on a nightly basis.

Any center who can shoot 80% from the line is magnificent in that category. A huge bonus that comes with owning Love is the fact that he’s averaging over half a three pointer per game.

There are only a few centers in the NBA who shoot three pointers, and their contributions are invaluable to teams. One more great element of Love is the fact that he averages over a steal per game, also a rarity at the position.

No one believed that Love would have the impact that he currently does. He’s been one of the most pleasant surprises in all of basketball, and gives fans of the Timberwolves in Minnesota something to look forward to.

As a result, quite a few lucky GMs around the fantasy world have enjoyed a huge boost from a pleasant surprise.
