High Upside Trading Vehicles For 2010

We all dream of throwing away some money into investments and seeing that money grow. In hindsight, we’ve seen plenty of fortunes made via this means and always wish that we were a part of it.

You’ll always find investors speculating to look for the next industry or trading vehicle that might bring them riches. Whether it was the recent oil explosion from a few years ago or any of the other modern bubbles, there’s been no shortage of situations like these.

At the moment, there are quite a few opportunities like this. Since the market has moved so heavily in both directions during the course of the last year, a lot of money has been lost and made.

For everyone who’s lost money, there have been others who have made money. If you’re looking for places to potentially make a fortune or lose it all, here are some volatile markets that may excite you.

Perhaps the biggest fad in today’s market is that of the ETF, which stands for exchange-traded fund. Whether you’re buying an ETF that’s tied to the banking industry, the energy industry, or the overall market as a whole, there are plenty of ways to profit from an ETF and they all involve the directional movements of certain industries.

Many people love the concept of stock options, and with good reason. You could easily double or triple your money (or much more) with a successful options trade. Unlike traditional equities, this could all occur over the course of a few days. This kind of thing happens all the time with options trades, since they’re highly leveraged. Just remember that your investment could just as easily disappear should things go the other way.

If you’re interested in profiting from the growth or demise of other economies, you should definitely look into Forex trading. This all has to do with the foreign exchange market and millions of people actively trade Forex currencies.

Try any of these out if you’re short on investment ideas. Just remember though – where there’s reward, there’s risk.

How To Read Your Opponent In Poker: A Guide To Common Poker Tells

Poker tells are one of the most important aspects of poker and they help to separate poker from other games of luck. When playing poker, it is crucial to observe your opponents in order to pick up on any clues they make inadvertently give away. Poker tells can include any piece of information gathered including voluntary and involuntary movements, verbal cues and behavioural patterns. The best part about tells is that every single poker player has them, and if you observe enough hands closely enough, you will eventually find them. Be careful though, some players try to give off reverse tells to trap you.

Eyes The eyes are an important part of reading a player. How an opponent sees the world can often give off small clues to their intentions. Length of staring at the holes cards can give you a clue. Some people can’t help but stare at monsters, others snap them back down immediately. A useful tell is when somebody immediately looks at their chips when the flop comes down, this means a big hand. The reverse is often also true, if someone stares at the flop for longer than normal then it is likely that they missed.

Hole Cards When someone rechecks their hole cards on a flop that is all of one suit, they normally do not have a flush. If a player squeezes out the second hole card after seeing the first one, it often means at least one ace. An opponent who looks at their hole cards and then looks uninterested has a monster hand.

Patterns of Betting The classic saying in poker is that weak means strong and strong means weak. Looking aggressive and forcefully shipping chips into the middle is usually weak. The opposite is also true, quietly putting chips into the pot is often strength. If an opponent looks at his hand and then bets instantly, it is seldom a bluff.

Chip Stacks If you ever notice a player winning a large pot and stacking their chips from the last hand, they will not play the hand unless they have good cards. Tight conservative players keep neat stacks and loose aggressive players usually have unkempt stacks.

Speaking at the table If an opponent is having a conversation during a poker hand and his talk is all of the place, as if his mind is on something else, it usually means he is not too confident in his hand. This correlates to a weak poker hand. Conversely, if a player is talking smoothly while in a hand, it means he is not overly concerned about the hand he is playing. This is because he feels comfortable and usually means a big hand.

Every player gives off tells, try to remain patient and always watch the table even when you aren’t in a hand.

The Origins Of Online Poker

Poker is a family of various card games played by two or more player who bet on the value of their hands. Numerous versions exist with each version differing based on the number of cards dealt, specific nuances and rules, betting limitations and hand rankings.

The history of poker is the subject of debate. Around 969 AD, the Chinese emperor Mu-Tsung is reported to have played ‘domino cards’ with his wife. Egyptians in the 12th and 13th centuries had a version of playing cards. The Persians in the 16th century had a 96-card game “Ganjifa” and a 25-card version “As Nas”. An early known card game incorporating betting, hand rankings and bluffing was a German game entitled ‘Pochspiel’ popular in the 15th century. The French played a game called ‘Poque’. Both games derived from the German ‘pochen’ (’to brag as a bluff’, ‘to knock’). Other early versions include the Renaissance game of ‘Primero’, the French game ‘Brelan’ and the English game ‘Brag’.

Irrespective of the early origins of poker, the modern day game differs significantly with focus upon unique features such as betting that do not appear in any older version. The modern origin of Poker is believe to have occurred in the mid 1700s spreading through the paddle steamers of the Mississippi River by 1800. Most likely introduced by French colonials arriving in Canada.

Early versions of the game involved 20 cards (AKQJT) and four players. There was no draw and bets were made on a narrower range of combinations including one pair, two pair, triplets, full and four of a kind. There was no straight, flush or royal flush at this point. In the mid 1830s, the 52-card version was gradually adopted partly to accommodate more player and to give more scope to the recently introduced flush. Poker now reached the pages of American Hoyle. Around 1845, Poker began introducing the ‘draw’. The improved the game by allowing a second round of betting and providing initially poor hands the ability to dramatically improve. From the middle of the 19th century, poker changed rapidly and became more widespread with modern day variations all starting to take form.

The modern day poker boom can be attributed to four events. The first is the 1998 film ‘Rounders’ starring Matt Damon, Edward Norton and John Malkovich in which a law student is tangled up in the world of poker and eventually quits his job and heads to Las Vegas to follow his dream. The second is the improvements in modernising televised poker tournaments including the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour. The third occurred when an unknown amateur Chris Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker in 2003. The fourth and final important advancement is the technology to allow internet poker into mainstream society. Since those events, poker has exploded and has never looked back.

Brandon Marshall Has An Idea

Brandon Marshall’s not going to sit back next year if the NFL does lock the players out. He’s made it quite clear that he has a back up plan and it’s quite interesting. He’s anxious to get a try out with the NBA if the NFL does move forward with a lock out.

Marshall who spent several solid years in Denver, would like to return back home. His ideal situation would be to play for the Denver Nuggets, although he’s considering the Miami Heat as well. Well, the ideal situation would be for the NFL to work things out and not hold a lock out!

As a professional athlete, Brandon Marshall must have an idea of what he’s actually capable of on the basketball court. And he thinks he’s more than capable of holding his own as a shooting guard in the NBA. Although football is obviously his passion, he spent a lot of time playing basketball growing up and still watches the NBA on a regular basis.

He was recently signed to the Miami Dolphins after several great years in Denver. His contract is worth $47.5 million and that’s paid over only four years. Not too bad! If the NFL does go on lock out and Brandon does make the NBA, he won’t be making anything near this amount. So he’s obviously hoping to stick with football!

Brandon Marshall is talking about the NBA only if the NFL doesn’t work out. People have criticized him for these comments, but I admire him for this! He’s coming up with a back up plan instead of just sitting around waiting for the NFL. He’s already looking for a basketball coach to help him get prepared.

Marshall was a fan favorite in Denver for several years. He had some ups and downs, but he can easily win the fans back. He’s aware that he may have to deal with some boo’s at first if he does return to Denver to play basketball, but he’s also confident he will get a nice welcome home cheer.

Everyone in Miami is extremely shocked by this news. However, the Dolphins staff didn’t seem too concerned. In fact, the Miami Dolphins coach actually called him out on his lack in vertical and said there’s no way he’s making the NBA. That comment will probably make Brandon want to play even more! Brandon Marshall has set a goal and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to back down on this challenge if there’s a lock-out. If there isn’t a lock out, then he’ll continue to make his big money with the Dolphins.

Time will tell what happens with the NFL and this will help Brandon Marshall determine his future as well. As much as I’d love to see him in the NBA, it would be devastating if the NFL actually did turn to a lock out.

An Objective Rant With Respect To Fantasy Sports Leagues

For a few years now I’ve achieved a lot of enjoyment playing my fantasy teams in virtual sports leagues. At the moment I have 3 teams; basketball, football and baseball. There are a lot of other games involving sport that are more basic.

I find this an awful lot of fun and it’s the nearest I’ll ever get to managing a sports team! I love buying and selling players, choosing the teams just pretending to be the manager for a few hours.

This is very rewarding, but rather addictive. As I am in 3 leagues, I seem to spend a helluva lot of time refreshing pages and checking league positions and games stats.

Are the addictive qualities of these games bad for you? Well I personally don’t think s, but then I wouldn’t, would I? It does take up a huge amount of my time and If there are no new stats I find myself watching games I have no interest in, and checking other results to see of my team is affected.

On the positive side, there is the competition and the things that I mentioned earlier. If you are a sports fan you will love a good battle, this keeps things interesting through a long season, no one can argue with that.

A competitive nature is one thing, but there are times that I have bordered on obsessive. I’ve found myself ignoring the actual result of a game as I’ve been very concerned about certain individuals and how they are playing their part in my team.

Like many of us, I have favorite teams in real life that I have been a fan of since childhood. Why now, for the first time ever, is my allegiance being tested by teams that don’t even exist? If fixtures clash I’m in the horrible situation of having to choose between them.

Do I have a problem? Well if I do there are millions of us. This is a topic for hot debate by many sports enthusiasts.
